If you have a St. Bernard puppy, you likely already know how big it will get. If you have a large backyard, this is the perfect place for your dog to get some exercise. If you do not have a fence, the dog will not be secure. When it comes to fencing, you do have to be careful about what you choose. These dogs are large enough to get over or through a variety of fencing options. Keep reading for two fence types that will work well for you.
Wood Privacy Fence
A wood privacy fence not only keeps your dog secure, it also provides you with privacy. This will prevent your dog from seeing outside the fence so they will not bark at other dogs, people, etc. Dogs outside the fence will not bark at your dog.
Privacy fencing made of wood is durable, and your dog will not be able to chew through it. Privacy fences are also tall so your dog will not be able to jump over the fencing. These fences may be expensive, however, but they are durable and will last a long time. You can choose from a variety of wood types, such as cedar, redwood, cypress, and pressure-treated wood. If you do not get pressure-treated wood, you should make sure the wood is sealed to protect it from insects, such as termites. Wood privacy fences can also be painted.
Chain Link Fencing
Chain link fencing will work well and is less expensive than other fence types. You do have to make sure you choose tall chain link fencing so your dog cannot jump over it. These fences are made of metal so your dog cannot chew through it. There is little space between each gap so your dog could never get through the gaps.
When a contractor is installing the fencing make sure they install it deep enough so your dog cannot dig under it. When choosing the fencing, make sure you choose a high-grade metal as this is thicker than standard metal. There are slats that you can slide over chain link fencing to prevent your dog from seeing out of it if you prefer. These slats come in a variety of colors and designs.
Talk with the fencing contractor and they can tell you about other fencing types that will work well for you, such as vinyl fencing, and electric fencing. Keep these tips in mind when looking for a fence installer near you.Share
